Erie Native ‘In Awe of the Beauty’ of Chautauqua County

Nestled along the picturesque bluffs of Lake Erie in Westfield, Bryan Boleratz found a slice of paradise in Chautauqua County. With roots in Erie, Pennsylvania, he’s embraced life in this vibrant community, relishing its natural beauty, welcoming community and small-town charm.

Bryan came to Westfield in January 2022. Bryan, a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) instructor, was drawn to the area by an incredible opportunity to purchase a home in a lakeshore community. From the moment he arrived, he was captivated by the region’s stunning scenery and welcoming spirit.

Bryan had previously lived in California and Pennsylvania and says he was “in awe of the beauty” of the area when first coming to Chautauqua County and making it home. He not only loved the picturesque environment of Westfield but fell in love with the people and community here, too. For him, Westfield simply feels like home.

He quickly to his new hometown and found great enjoyment in exploring all that Westfield has to offer. Bryan, a self-described beach bum, treasures Lake Erie and the close-knit vibe of the town. Favorite local spots include Barcelona Beach, When Pigs Fly BBQ Pit, and the Westfield Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market.

Beyond Westfield, Bryan revels in exploring Chautauqua County’s many treasures. While he finds plenty to do in his hometown, he also likes to visit the surrounding areas, especially the natural wonders and small businesses. Bryan said his favorite destinations around the county are the Dunkirk Pier, Labyrinth Press Company (Jamestown), Panama Rocks, The BioDome Project (Jamestown), and Big Inlet Brewery (Mayville).

“People are so warm and welcoming and are very community-oriented,” he said. “So many great small businesses and I quickly realized it’s because this community truly supports their small businesses. I love calling this place ‘home!’”
